Israel’s Tourism Ads Banned

Israel’s tourism ads banned because the information is misleading.

Supervisory institutions in the UK advertising ban advertisements issued by the Tourism Authority of Israel for a photo of the western wall. They say the ad is misleading.

Advertising Standards Authority, ASA, said the ad implied that Israel occupied East Jerusalem since 1967 are part of the country.

Western Wall which is one of the places sacred to Judaism, located in East Jerusalem, that location is one location most of the main objectives of tourists who visit Israel.

Israel’s Tourism Ministry said it would be incorrect if the place is not included in the ad.

ASA said it had received a letter of complaint due to these ads. The ads appeared in a newspaper in England.

This decision followed the steps they had done earlier in the year 2009 when the ASA ad criticizing Israel’s Ministry displayed in London’s subway network. These ads display photographs in the vicinity of Gaza, the West Bank and Golan Heights as part of Israeli territory.

In their latest ad says, “You can browse Israel in six hours, imagine what you can do in four days.”

At the bottom of the ads there are images of Western Wall, part of a complex that is known by Jews as the Dome of the Mount or the Muslim community called Haram al-Sharif.

ASA says, ‘The reader understands that the location seemed impressed that depicted in the ad are all located in the territory of Israel. ”

‘However we understand that the status area on the west bank is still a subject of international dispute and therefore we consider that the ads implicitly want to show the image of East Jerusalem is in the area Israel. We conclude the information in the ad was misleading. ”

But the Ministry of Tourism Israel rejected the decision, they responded by saying the ASA that the ad had been providing basic and accurate information, ”for the candidates promising the British tourists”.

“The information is completely accurate in their ads to those who will travel to Israel. Ignoring the reference in that ad during a visit to Jerusalem would mean it is incorrect and misleading.”

The Israeli Tourism Ministry’s ad released earlier in the year 2009 and then at least there are 400 complaints against the ad.

Palestinians want East Jerusalem today as the capital of a future for their country but the Government insists the Israeli occupation of the city can not be separated from their territories.

The status of the two holy sites in the region is one of the controversial issues will be resolved in a meeting to reach a peace deal in the region.
