Circle Line Sightseeing Cruise
Get a good overview of Manhattan by taking to the water on a “Semi-Circle” boat cruise. Take in the sights of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island; recognise the landmarks in the lower Manhattan skyline; travel east and under the Brooklyn Bridge and view the United Nations and the East Side skyline, including the Empire State and Chrysler buildings.
Empire State Building
From Grand Central Station take a stroll along Fifth Avenue, until you reach the Empire State Building. On a clear day the views from the top of the tallest building in New York are amazing. To avoid the queues at the ticket booth, buy your tickets for the observation deck before you visit the Empire State Building. Hop in the elevator which will transport you up to the 86th floor, where you will get a panoramic view of Manhattan.
Fifth Avenue
Probably the most famous shopping street in the world, Fifth Avenue is home to some well known stores like Saks Fifth Avenue, the NBA Store, Tiffany & Co., Cartier, Bergdorf Goodman, and the Apple Store. You’ll also see Trump Tower where the US version of the Apprentice is filmed with Business mogul Donald Trump.
Times Square
The busiest square in the city, the bright bustling Times Square is home to a number of theatres and cinemas. Spend an evening at a Broadway show, and after the curtains lowered check out the tasty treats in the Hershey’s mega store – ideal for chocoholics!
Statue of Liberty
Time to take a closer look at the Statue of Liberty. There is a ferry every half hour leaving Battery Park beginning at 8:30am. Once you have reached Liberty Island, you can take one of two tours. The Promenade Tour takes visitors through a half hour guided tour of the exhibition in the lobby, the second Observatory Tour incorporates the guided tour plus a visit to the observation platform where you can view the statue’s interior framework through a new glass ceiling portal.
Ellis Island
Your Statue of Liberty ferry ticket also includes a stop at Ellis Island where the Immigration Museum is located. Ferries to Ellis Island leave Liberty Island every half hour. Personal details of the immigrant experience are on display at the Immigration Museum, from personal letters and jewellery to worn suitcases. Wander through the Registry room where hundreds of people from different walks of life came through these doors to start a better life.
Brooklyn Bridge
Muster up the energy to make the half hour stroll back to Manhattan across Brooklyn Bridge, one of the greatest suspended bridges in the world. The views across the Manhattan skyline are impressive and well worth a photo opportunity.
Central Park
Spend a fun day exploring in Central Park, release your inner child and ride on the carousel, go boating on the lake, relax in the Conservatory garden or take a trip to Central park Zoo. If you didn’t bring a packed lunch, stop in Zabar’s for a take away bagel, find a sunny spot in the park and soak up the atmosphere.
